What are Miniature Australian Shepherds? |

The ideal miniature Aussies is the mirror-image of the "Standard Australian" only in a smaller package. Size ranges from 13" to 18" tall, measured at the top of the withers. They are in the Herding Group, Breed and Obedience ring, as well as in the home as a supremely devoted companion and pet. The Miniature American Shepherd has all the attributes of the larger Aussie but the advantages of the smaller dog, weighing between 15 to 35 pounds at maturity. They come in coat colors of blue merle, red merle, black or red tri or bi. All with or without copper/tan and white trim. Their eyes may be blue, brown, hazel (amber) one blue, one brown. Flecked or marbled. Tails are sometimes naturally bobbed, longer ones are docked. |

The Miniature Aussies temperament is that of the larger Aussies, sensitive, easily trained, excellent natural guardians of the home and possessing strong herding instincts. They are calm and confident, but suspicious of strangers. The are entirely devoted to their masters and will go to great lengths to please. Their unique size makes them perfectly suited to our growing urbanization, as well as making fine traveling companions. |

The Miniature American Shepherd is recognized as a breed and is registered by the National Stock Dog Registry, located in Butler Indiana. The National Stock Dog Registry (a division of the international English Shepherd Registry INc.) was the first and official registry for Australian Shepherds. "VALHALLA DOG'S" are registered with both National Stock Dog Registry and with the American Kennel Club ( A.K.C. smaller than recommended size). |
